WebI tend to use the colourshifts as a one off extra colour to my normal paint scheme to make a key model pop while still following the main scheme. Most I used on one model was 2 colourshift shades, and even then more than 70% of the model was 'normal' paint. IMO you need the normal colour to make the colourshift stand out. Less is more.
